Kitchen Manager

Starting Wage:
Competitive Hourly Wage Depending on Experience/Skillset


Schedule:
This is a part-time position of approximately 32 hours per week.

Responsible For:

  • Managing, scheduling and supervising kitchen staff of 2-3
  • Making sure yourself and all kitchen staff are complying to all sanitary and county codes and food safety precautions and standards
  • Work closely with Centre Director, as well as retreat directors and/or guests in menu planning, food ordering, headcounts, dietary restrictions, etc.
  • Must be able to work alone as well as with others, and in delegating tasks and responsibilities
  • Maintain a weekly food and paper product inventory and order according to needs from our grocery and housekeeping vendors
  • Must be able to plan and prepare cafeteria-style breakfast, lunch and dinner menus for guests, meeting attendees, and retreatants
  • Must be creative, be able to bring new recipes to the menu, be able to cook from scratch, as well as follow established recipes and menus; and cook in a high-paced and high-volume atmosphere (guest numbers range from as little as 8 to as high as 50)
  • Prepare dietary-restricted meals for guests and students such as dairy and gluten free, vegan and vegetarian meals
  • Maintaining a sanitary, safe and organized kitchen
  • Overseeing the setup and cleanliness of dining room
  • Overseeing beverage and snack service for retreat meetings and conferences


General Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must have excellent communication and hospitality skills: (interacting with guests and staff in an honest, positive, confidential and forthright manner)
  • Must have some flexibility with schedule


Educational Requirements:

  • Must have a current ServServe certificate (or equivalent)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous food service experience preferred: 2- 5 years
  • Culinary School Certificate preferred but not required

Preschool Cook

Job Description:

  • Approximately 20 hours per week, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm per the school calendar.
  • Must be 18 years of age
    Background verification check
  • Fill out required forms to be kept in your personnel file
  • Wear hairnet or hat while in the kitchen
  • Be able to lift to forty pounds

Job Responsibilities:

    • Review weekly menus with School Director
    • Prepare/deliver breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks for all classrooms, approximately 40 students at breakfast, 15 at lunch/afternoon snack
    • Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature
    • Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
    • Prepare appropriate amounts of food for each classroom, with amounts served meeting CACFP guidelines
    • Maintain daily production reports
    • Make weekly food orders through vendors
    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas
      • Make sure all thermometers are working properly
      • Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates
      • Wash and sanitize all dishes
      • Clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day
      • Remove trash and recyclables daily
      • Organize and put away all groceries, food orders and non-food items
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, team members, administration, and Board of Directors
  • Build positive relationships and communicate in a respectful manner with families, children, team members, administration, Board of Directors, and the communities in which we serve

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent or equivalent experience in food industry.
